Well hello, and welcome to Eudaimonic Psychological Services (yes, I am aware it is a mouthful). I'm Alisha Fernandes, a Registered Provisional Psychologist, based in Calgary, Alberta, dedicated to guiding individuals on their journey toward mental wellness, self-discovery, and growth. I believe that each person is unique, and so are the challenges they face. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or relationship issues, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for you to explore, heal, and thrive.
The word eudaimonia originates from the ancient Greeks, combining the words eu, meaning "good" or "well," and daimōn, which refers to a spirit, or the inner force; eudaimonia can be understood as “having a good guiding spirit” or “being in a good state of the soul.” Often translated as "happiness" or "flourishing", Aristotle saw eudaimonia as living in accordance with reason, fulfilling one's potential, and practicing virtue to achieve a well-lived life. At Eudaimonic Psychological Services, I focus on providing personalized support on your journey to personal growth, and being your guide as you build a life that aligns with your values and purpose.
As someone who values both, evidence-based practices and the healing power of human connection, my therapeutic approach has evolved from theoretical models based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Trauma-Informed care to create a tailored therapeutic experience. Moreover, my work is also deeply influenced by the evolving field of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy. Inspired by the ability of psychedelic medicines to unlock the potential of the human mind, I continually explore ways to incorporate meaningful, consciousness-expanding practices that support lasting change.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Applied Psychology, and I am committed to ongoing education and training to ensure the best care possible. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I worked in Dubai as an ABA Therapist with young children and adolescents on the Autism-Spectrum Disorders. I have also spent time teaching Psychology as a High School Teacher and an Adjunct Instructor for undergraduate students. Due to my upbringing and work within the U.A.E., I possess an in-depth understanding of various cultures and ethnicities, which I use in my therapeutic work with my clients.
Therapy with me is collaborative. I see us as partners in your healing journey, working together to uncover patterns, build resilience, and empower you with tools that serve you long after our sessions end. If you’re ready to take the first step, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can explore ways to help you feel more connected, centered, and in control of your life.
